Plant RegistrationRegulator Registration
Certain kinds of plant, for example forklifts, cranes and some pressure equipment, require a licence from the regulator to operate and some high-risk plant must also be registered with the regulator.

  • All cranes and concrete pumps must be registered with the regulator - Regulator Registration documents must be provided for these plant items
  • Must be issued by relevant state/territory authority
  • Expiry date must not be less than present date
  • Asset details to be displayed on evidence (Type and Model)

Plant Design Registration
  • Must be a statement from the design verifier stating the design has been produced in accordance with published technical standards or engineering principles specified by the designer
  • Statement must show plant design registration number
Regulator Registration
  • Issue Date = Start of coverage date listed on document
  • Expiry Date = Coverage end date listed on registration (If the registration is paid on a monthly basis the expiry will be set when the next payment is due)



Plant Design Registration
  • Issue Date = As per statement
  • Expiry Date = None

Road Registration (State)
  • Issued by TfNSW RMS or other state equivalent.
  • RMS receipt number recorded.
  • Expiry date not less than present date.
  • Use - B for business
  • Correct vehicle axle code provided.

  • Issue Date = Start of coverage date listed on policy.
  • Expiry Date = Coverage end date listed on registration (If the registration is paid on a monthly basis the expiry will be set when the next payment is due).

Boom Type- Worksafe Plant Registration all states except Victoria
  • Must be issued by SafeWork NSW or equivalent other state authority.
  • Expiry date must be > current date.
  • Owner/controller name on certificate to match the company registering asset.
  • Duration as per certificate
  • Black and white and colour copies accepted.
  • Receipt number to be provided.
  • Types of plant that must be registered are:
    • tower cranes including self erecting tower cranes
    • mobile cranes with a safe working load of more than 10 tonnes
    • concrete placement units with delivery booms
    • lifts, escalators and moving walkways
    • building maintenance units
    • boilers with a hazard level of A, B or C
    • pressure vessels with hazard level of A, B, or C (except LP gas fuel vessels for automotive use; serially produced pressure vessels; or pressure vessels that do not require periodic internal inspection)
    • amusement devices covered by Section 2.1 of Australian Standard (AS) 3533.1:2009
  • Issue/inspection Date = Record this as it is listed on the certificate
  • Expiry Date = Record this as it is listed on the certificate

Towable Plant/Trailer State Road Registration
  • Issued by RMS or other state equivalent.
  • RMS receipt number recorded.
  • Expiry date not less than present date.
  • Use - B for business
