Chemical Use.Awareness.Benzene Awareness

OSHA Reference: General Industry 29 CFR 1910.1028 (j) Communication of benzene hazards to employees (3) Information and training. (i) The employer shall provide employees with information and training at the time of their initial assignment to a work area where benzene is present. If exposures are above the action level, employees shall be provided with information and training at least annually thereafter. (ii) The training program shall be in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1) and (2), and shall include specific information on benzene for each category of information included in that section.

Chemical Use.Awareness.Cadmium Awareness

(m) Communication of cadmium hazards to employees (4) Employee information and training. (i) The employer shall train each employee who is potentially exposed to cadmium in accordance with the requirements of this section. The employer shall institute a training program, ensure employee participation in the program, and maintain a record of the contents of such program. (ii) Training shall be provided prior to or at the time of initial assignment to a job involving potential exposure to cadmium and at least annually thereafter.

(ii) The employer shall make a copy of this section readily available without cost to all affected employees.

Chemical Use.Awareness.Lead Awareness

OSHA Reference: General Industry 29 CFR 1910.1025

(ii) The employer shall train each employee who is subject to exposure to lead at or above the action level on any day, or who is subject to exposure to lead compounds which may cause skin or eye irritation (e.g., lead arsenate, lead azide), in accordance with the requirements of this section. The employer shall institute a training program and ensure employee participation in the program. (iii) The employer shall provide the training program as initial training prior to the time of job assignment or prior to the start up date for this requirement, whichever comes last. (iv) The employer shall also provide the training program at least annually for each employee who is subject to lead exposure at or above the action level on any day.

(l) Employee information and training. (1) General (i) The employer shall communicate information concerning lead hazards according to the requirements of OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard for the construction industry, 29 CFR 1926.59, including but not limited to the requirements concerning warning signs and labels, safety data sheets (SDS), and employee information and training. In addition, employers shall comply with the following requirements: (ii) The employer shall train each employee who is subject to exposure to lead at or above the action level on any day, or who is subject to exposure to lead compounds which may cause skin or eye irritation (e.g., lead arsenate, lead azide), in accordance with the requirements of this section. The employer shall institute a training program and ensure employee participation in the program. Chemical Use.Qualified.Hazardous Chemicals in Laboratories

OSHA Reference: General Industry 29 CFR 1910.1450

(4) Training. (i) Employee training shall include: (A) Methods and observations that may be used to detect the presence or release of a hazardous chemical (such as monitoring conducted by the employer, continuous monitoring devices, visual appearance or odor of hazardous chemicals when being released, etc.); (B) The physical and health hazards of chemicals in the work area; and (C) The measures employees can take to protect themselves from these hazards, including specific procedures the employer has implemented to protect employees from exposure to hazardous chemicals, such as appropriate work practices, emergency procedures, and personal protective equipment to be used. (ii) The employee shall be trained on the applicable details of the employer’s written Chemical Hygiene Plan.
