External.Qualified.EXT016 Maritime Security ID Card (MSIC)

  • Name on Card to match the person registered (however shortened versions such as 'Chris' for 'Christopher' are acceptable)
  • Photo required
  • Expiry date
  • Holographic sticker
  • Unique identifier
  • Colour only
  • The following can be accepted as evidence:
    • MSIC Card must be issued by an authorised issuing body on behalf of Australian Government
    • Proof of renewal will be accepted in the interim for up to four weeks, after which time it will expire and the renewed MSIC Card must be provided. Part B of the Blue MSIC Application form must be signed and dated.


Exemption Process:

An exemption may be granted for a training competency requirement listed in the Training Matrices for an employee or contractor. Exemptions shall be applied only after careful consideration and risk assessment. Please click here for the template and business rules.

  • Issue Date: Not Required
  • Expiry Date: As displayed on the licence (if shown)

NOTE: The licence will only show a month and year. Use the last date of the month as the expiry date.

Example: Aug 2022 on card. Input 31-Aug-2022 as the expiry date.


For renewal document expiry date is 4 weeks from the date Part B is signed.

  • Participant Details to match applicants profile

Note: Shortened versions of first names are accepted, such as: "Chris" instead of "Christopher" & "Wil" instead of "William". 

Note: If the name is not clear or cannot be confirmed the Yara ID number &/or Company Name may be used to verify identity

  • Applicant's signature and signed date
  • Authorised Assessor's complete name and signature and date
  • Must show that the person is deemed competent
